Once there was…

A request that wanted two things at once: a normal, organized presentation of selected news content and an instruction that said “Do not answer.”

Every day,

Those kinds of contradictions create a predictable outcome: a direct response can’t be provided as requested, because one instruction blocks the other. The assistant is left unable to both comply and not comply at the same time.

Until one day,

The conflict became explicit:
“A direct response cannot be provided as requested because your instructions explicitly say ‘Do not answer,’ which conflicts with your simultaneous requirement to have the assistant organize and present selected news content.”

Because of that,

The only viable way forward was to ask for clarity—either remove the “Do not answer” constraint or explicitly authorize a normal answer so the assistant could organize and present the requested news item.

Because of that,

A simple path emerged: restate the request without the blocking constraint, or clearly confirm that you do want the organized news content and are authorizing a standard response.

Ever since then,

The rule for moving forward has been straightforward: when instructions collide, resolution requires the user to choose which outcome they actually want—silence, or an actual organized answer.
